Sunday Service

Services are from 10:30 – 12:00, but feel free to come early. Our cafe is a great place to fellowship and get to know each other, and the atmosphere at EMC is very welcoming.

Come as you are, you’ll find some of us in jeans and t shirts and others in dresses or slacks. We believe that we should follow Christ’s example, and not get too hung up on outward appearances. Read on for what to expect on Sundays.

WORSHIP

Services begin with a congregational song, an opening reading from the Psalms and prayer followed by a mix of traditional hymns and modern worship songs that are biblically sound. You won’t hear Bethel Music or Hillsong and the room is well lit, but you can expect a time of heartfelt response to God for who He is and what He’s done for us.

Following music is the sermon. Typically sermons are exegetical (pulling the meaning from the text) as we go verse by verse through a book of the Bible, except for an occasional short topical series. Teaching is deep enough to challenge mature saints, but explained in a way that new believers can understand. Sermons are usually 45 minutes or so, and the service ends around 12:00.

CHILDCARE

As a family integrated church, all ages are encouraged worship together. We understand that for many, this is different- so we do offer nursery for infants and pre-k class for children up to kindergarten age.

We encourage those who wish to keep their little ones with them to feel free to do so, and we have paper and pencils as well as busy boxes in the back for you to grab for fidgety kids to use as they learn to sit with adults in church.

We’ve learned that a little noise from children is a sign of life in church. But there are times when little ones show more signs of life than usual – so our quiet room is located adjacent to the sanctuary, with a viewing window and sound from the service as well as a changing table for mothers with infants to use during the service if little ones get too fussy.
