Worship the way we like it is one of the biggest scams going today. We wonder how something that feels so right could ever be wrong, and seek the atmosphere that we believe is charged with anointing. It may feel good in the moment, but when the moment passes we are still the same.
God’s pattern of worship leads to a different place. Like exercise, true worship is meant to build us up over time as God disciples us within the structure He set forth for our good.
Our ideas and patterns of worship lead to dead ends. They tire us out, at times even leading to burn out with nothing to show for all our effort. But worship according to God’s pattern leads to growth, if only we are willing to trade what we think is best for what He does.
