Depression. It can feel like being lost in the dark, oppressive & overwhelming. To Christians who suffer from it, it may feel as if God is far away or that He has left us all on our own – but nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, it is in the darkness that light can shine brightest.
Our text finds Jesus in His cross while in the middle of the day, darkness blots out the light. In the darkness, carrying sin all alone and suffering the full wrath of God a glimmer of hope appears in the form of the temple veil being torn from top to bottom. It was suffering that paved the way back to God for all mankind.
Join us as we continue verse by verse through Luke’s gospel and learn to see the darkness in a new light. Just like in our text, there is mercy for those who suffer – and it is darkness that God often works best for His glory & our good!
