“Increase our faith” was the prayer when Jesus commanded the Apostles to do the impossible. Maybe you’ve asked the same request when facing a problem as well. The thing is – the amount of faith the Apostles (or we) had wasn’t the question. By Jesus’s answer we can see where the issue was – did they have the right faith in the first place?
Faith is more than simply speaking the right things, or expecting that God can move. Faith is more than even believing a thing is possible. True faith in Christ is what God gives to all of His children and it is a result of simple obedience.
So many Christians struggle with faith, and much of the struggle stems from misunderstanding the foundation of it in the first place. If we want to experience the kind of faith that overcomes, then understanding our text today is the key.
