When the disciples were at their lowest, the character of Jesus shined brightest. Not only were they encouraged that day, but behind it all was a surprising truth about the way Jesus relates to all of His disciples.
While He reigns as Sovereign over all creation, our Lord still waits for an invitation. And even though He knows all things, the Savior still wants us to tell him about our troubles.
The way Jesus relates to us today is the same as we see in our text. Our God who knows all and has all power, has determined in His infinite wisdom to wait for an invitation and He allows us to pour out our heart to Him – not because He doesn’t already know the problem – but because He loves us. It really is that simple.
