Our text today can seem a little confusing at first glance, but when taken in context it becomes a clear rebuke to the Pharisees for holding their own law above God’s law.
The same rebuke is pointed at us, the modern church if we repeat the Pharisees mistake. And we often do, in all sorts of areas – especially in worship.
But there is hope in Christ & the law still holds a place in the lives of Christians. Even under the new covenant, the law isn’t set aside. But by Gods grace, in Christ we can learn to set aside our own version of the law & begin to live just like our savior as we follow in His steps.
