Once again our text leads us into another round of questioning. This time the Roman governor Pontius Pilate & King Herod – being prodded along by the religious leaders have Jesus on the spot. Most Christians know the story, but what can we learn from it that can really change our life?
Leaving our defense against false accusations to God is one lesson we can draw, but that’s not all. Truth is what was on trial. Personified in Jesus and shining brightly through the narrative, truth is what Jesus was on trial for. He withstood the pressure to abandon truth and calls us to do the same.
All truth is God’s truth. And the sooner we accept our responsibility as God’s people to stand for truth, the better. As people of God we must also be people who love truth – even if it leads to suffering. Join us as we continue verse by verse through Luke’s gospel.
